BIOGRAPHY

Jacob Courville serves as director for federal relations. He is responsible for covering and representing federal funding and policy priorities of the university to Congress and the Executive branch. His focus areas include public health and biomedical research, higher education, agricultural research, energy, environment, and tax issues, among others. He regularly works to build coalitions and coordinate advocacy efforts amongst stakeholders in the higher education and research communities to further MSU and Michigan-specific interests. Courville also serves as a lead federal relations liaison for MSU’s ongoing engagement in responding to the Flint water crisis.

Prior to joining MSU, Courville worked in U.S. Congress for Senator Carl Levin's office until the Senator's retirement in 2015, where he served as a legislative assistant responsible for covering a wide range of policy issues. He graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in political science and is a proud alumnus of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), where he aided in disaster relief and recovery efforts in communities across the southeast and U.S. Gulf Coast following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
